I’m interested in data, maps, cities and the social and business side of the technology. At The Data Republic I am responsible for obtaining the necessary data for projects, sometimes scraping websites, sometimes developing code snippets to get structured data from public API’s or surfing the government websites to find interesting open data. After that, I normalize (or denormalized, ooops my database teacher at university would be shocked) the obtained data to be able to visualize them in the best way.

During my Bachelor Degree in Computing Engineering I was especially interested in database modelling and datamining. After my graduation I worked developing website applications, especially defining database structures behind the business layer. Because I was interested in the business side of the Internet (these days B2C was a trending topic), I coursed a master in eBusiness. Two years later, the explosion of the social web coincided with my studies in Humanities Degree. The last two years I’ve been working as a marketing online project manager and social media manager, trying to understand the social side of the Internet.

I like and oftenly I’m haunted by maps and geolocation and how this type of data visualization can be related to city and land planning, transport and mobility and local development in general. I am also interested in the commercial application of data analysis, especially data 2.0, how, through visualization, we can generate added value for the location of new businesses, increase of sales and business development in general.

I completed my degree in Economics and I have been a few years working in the field of market research and local economic development, first helping entrepreneurs and for a couple of years in career development and human capital issues. Lately I’m also interested in urban planning, especially in urban regeneration, industrial ecology and sustainable mobility, and in exploring how data visualization can help us to improve the development of the urban process. I’m currently coursing a Master in Urban and Land Planning. I also keep my own blog, where I share my thoughts and interests in urban planning.

In addition to making graphs and maps, when I have free time I go swimming, running and cycling, the triathlon has been for about a year one of my new obsessions.

I like to get and shape all data coming from the different available sources in the global net.

I’m a computer engineer and some years ago I introduced myself into the stock exchange world through which I got fascinated by the behavior patterns of the human psicology.

Further professional researchers analyzing quantitative social media data have helped me to be an expert on this area.

Detecting human behaviors in an analytical way is my passion and that’s one of the main reasons which have pushed me to join The Data Republic project.

One of my obsessions is to try to understand the environment around me, especially the behavior of economic and social agents, for that, I try to analyze the quantitative data to gain a qualitative approach.

My role within the project is to interpret and obtain different qualitative analysis through the information that flows from the rest of TDR’s team. My main interest is to go further and to provide closer information, more useful and implementable for users, who can then draw their own conclusions as well.

I started working in the field of market research before the I ended my degree in Economics, and therefore I have worked in all phases of the process from data capture to the final interpretation, but it is in the latter area where I can more fully develop what I like the most, the interpretation of markets.

My training is complemented with experience in the field of local development, focused especially on entrepreneurship. I have also worked for the commercial department of a well known Spanish fashion company.
